Pray to Jesus

We are only to pray to God and throughout Scripture we see repeatedly find that individuals "call upon the name of the LORD".

Let us examine the Scriptures closer and see how God is prayed to:

To God--- Psalm 116:4-Then I called upon the name of the Lord: "O Lord, I beseech You, save my life!"

To Jesus--- 1 Corinthians 1:1-2, "Paul, called as an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother, To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,…"

To Jesus--- Romans 10:13, "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."

A different approach...

To God--- Luke 23:46, "And Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, "Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit".

To Jesus--- Acts 7:59, "They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!".

A quote from Psalm 31:5, "Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have ransomed me, O LORD, God of truth". King David wrote that this was said to the LORD (YHWH) the God of truth". Jesus prayed it to Father God. Stephen likely knew this prayer was from Psalms (as he quoted it exactly), and he knew it was written by King David and that it was to the LORD God. Yet, in Stephens hour of death, when he was full with the Holy Spirit (7:55), to whom did he pray? "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!"

The Apostles and believers of the early church prayed to Jesus Christ, I propose each person do the same. Jesus loves you and desires a personal relationship with you; you can talk to Him…

Thank You L.U.

Liberty University is a distinctly Christian university with a stated mission of training Champions for Christ. It is the largest and fastest growing evangelical University in the world. Students and parents appreciate and support the values of the University.

Officially recognized student clubs and organizations that bear the name of Liberty University are expected to uphold the standards and principles of the University and act in a manner consistent with its mission. For nearly two years the University has been evaluating how best to advance its mission and to support student organizations. In order to avoid the problems encountered by other faith-based educational institutions involving student organizations, Liberty University has adopted a policy that governs such groups.

The policy states, in part: “No student club or organization shall be approved, recognized or permitted to meet on campus, advertise, distribute or post materials, or use University facilities if the statements, positions, doctrines, policies, constitutions, bylaws, platforms, activities or events of such club or organization, its parent, affiliate, chapter or similarly named group are inconsistent or in conflict with the distinctly Christian mission of the University.”

Among other things, Liberty University stands for the sanctity of human life. The loss of human life through abortion is a great tragedy and we cannot remain silent when the political policies or politicians promote the destruction of innocent human life. While students may meet on campus, debate, and discuss important and controversial issues of the day, Liberty University will not lend its name or fund organizations whose stated purpose is to promote and advance issues that are contrary to its Christian mission.

Over the last several decades, Democratic clubs have existed at Liberty University as unofficial student clubs not endorsed by the school. Last Fall, the College Democrats asked that the university officially recognize their club. They promised to support only pro-life candidates and their charter provides that the club supports the right to life. Unfortunately, the club supported candidates over the last 8 months that support abortion rights. As a result, Liberty University converted the club’s status back to that of an unrecognized club. It was not banned as so many press outlets irresponsibly reported. The club can continue to exist and meet on campus like other clubs and student groups that are not officially recognized by the university. They cannot use Liberty University’s name, will not receive the small financial subsidy that officially recognized clubs receive (about $500 per year on average) and they cannot hold public events on campus. There will be no other restrictions on their activities. Liberty University encourages free speech and open debate on its campus and free speech will not be restricted.

Liberty University is not singling out the Democratic Party in this action. If a Republican club supporting abortion sought endorsement from the University, it would be denied. The sanctity of life is one of Liberty University’s non-negotiable core values and it simply cannot lend its name or financial support to any group that actively works against Liberty’s core values.

A student club of Democrats who are pro-life and pro-family, and who are seriously intent on bringing positive change to the Democratic Party, would be refreshing. But the rhetoric must match the actions, meaning that such a club seeking official recognition would not want to endorse policies or candidates contrary to Liberty’s mission. Such a group should state in its’ name its’ distinctive mission to immediately tell the world that this club stands for the core values of Liberty University.

We hope that our students bring positive change to all political parties, not just Democrats, but also Republicans and Independents. These groups could debate many topics, but agree on Liberty’s core values. Liberty will not lend its name and financial support to any club or organization that actively seeks to undermine the mission of the University and its core values.

Jesus Saves (from what and from who?)

CARM.ORG

Jesus is the most important figure in all of human history. He is God in flesh (John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9), physically risen from the dead, Lord (Luke 24:34; John 2:19-21) and Savior (Acts 5:30-32). He came to die for sinners (Rom. 5:8) to deliver people from the righteous wrath of God upon us.
Are you a sinner?

I ask you, are you a sinner? Have you ever lied, stolen, lusted, coveted, or been angry with someone unjustly? If so, then you have broken the Law of God. God has said "You shall not steal; You shall not lie; You shall have no other gods before Me; You shall not murder, etc.," (Exodus 20). He has given the standard of righteousness and if you have broken any of God's commandments then you have fallen short of that standard and are under the inevitable judgment of God. When you die, you will face Him and on the Day of Judgment he will deliver the proper judgment to all people. He must because he is righteous.

If you do not like this teaching, then throw away your Bible and turn away from Christ, for this is the message of God's word -- that Jesus came to die for sinners and to save them from the wrath to come.

Jesus is the One you need. You need him alone. Your works won't help you (Rom. 3:10-12; Isaiah 64:6), nor will your sincerity. You can never be good enough and you have nothing to offer God except your sinfulness. It is only by the love and grace of God found in Jesus and His sacrifice that you can be delivered from the righteous wrath of God upon all who have broken His law. Jesus saves you from God. Jesus saves you from God's righteous judgment.

On the Day of Judgment God will judge all people for their sins against Him. He will judge all who have lied, stolen, cheated, lusted, dishonored their parents, etc. He will do this because He is holy and righteous. God must punish the sinner. God cannot and will not ignore the person who has broken His righteous law. The Law is a reflection of the character of God. Therefore, to break God's law is to offend God and deny the holiness of His character. He will be vindicated. He will judge.

The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). That means that your sins have caused a separation between you and God (Isaiah 59:2) and the result is death (Rom. 6:23) and wrath (Eph. 2:3). The only way to be saved from the wrath of God, is to be saved from it by faith in Christ (Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 5:1). You must trust in what Jesus did on the cross to forgive you of your sins and not trust anything else, not even your own sincerity or works. It is Jesus and only Jesus who can turn away the righteous judgment of God upon the sinner.

The Gospel

The gospel is that Jesus died for sinners on the cross, was buried, and rose from the dead (1 Cor. 15:1-4). His death was a sacrifice that turns away the wrath of God (1 John 2:2). This is the only way to be saved.

Jesus is the one who died for the sins of the world (1 John 2:2). He is the only way to God the Father (John 14;6). He alone reveals God (Matt. 11:27). He has all authority in heaven and earth (Matt. 28:18). It is only through Him that you can be saved from God's wrath (Eph. 2:3). He can forgive you of your sin (Luke 5:20; Matt. 9:2). He can remove the guilt that is upon your soul. Jesus can set you free from the bondage of sin that blinds your eyes, weakens your soul, and brings you to despair. He can do this because He bore sin in His body on the cross (1 Peter. 2:24)so that those who trust in Him would be saved.

If you are not a Christian, and want to be delivered from the righteous judgment of God, then come to the One who died for the sins of the world. Come to the One who died for sinners (Matt. 11:28). Turn from your sins. Believe and trust in Jesus. Receive Jesus, who is God in flesh, who died and rose from the dead (1 Cor. 15:1-4) as your Lord and Savior. Ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins. Receive Christ (John 1:12) and the sacrifice he offered on the cross. Only He can wash you clean from your sins and only Jesus can deliver you from the future judgment of a holy and infinite God. Pray to Jesus. Seek Him. Ask Him to save you.

He will.

I would like to note, that the Jesus of Mormonism (the brother of the devil), the Jesus of the Jehovah's Witnesses (an angel made into a man), the Jesus of the New Age (a man in tune with the divine consciousness), etc., cannot save you from your sins. Faith is only as good as who you put it in. Only the Jesus of the Bible can do that. Jesus is God in flesh, the creator. God is a trinity and Jesus is the second person of the trinity.

If you have prayed and asked Jesus to deliver you from your sins and save you from God's wrath, then please email carmstuff@yahoo.com and let us know.

Christianity thriving in China

BEIJING, China -- After returning from a recent trip to Beijing, former president Jimmy Carter said that there are "10,000 new Christians registering everyday" in China.

Many experts believe Christianity in China is thriving. The Chinese Communist Party, which is officially atheist, is slowly recognizing the role that Christianity and other religions can play in the modernization of China.

When China's Communist Party members met recently at the National Congress in Beijing, President Hu Jintao did something that had never been done before. He added the word "religion" to the Communist Party constitution.

President Hu called the move an historic moment and challenged the party to view religion as a source of economic and social stability.

"I don't think the foreign missionaries who served in China in the old days could have imaged that such a thing could happen," said Zhao Xiao, a top Chinese economist.

Zhao was watching the political proceedings that day from his office on the outskirts of Beijing.

"The window in China is opening more and more," said Zhao. "Yes, the economy is the big story, but the other story is that we're also seeing a moral and religious revival and the government recognizes this."

A Communist Finds Jesus

In 2002, Zhao went on assignment to the United States to discover the secret of America's economic success. What he found changed his life forever.

"After my trip I wrote an essay entitled, Market Economies with Churches and Market Economies without Churches," he explained. "I discovered that Christianity was the reason for America's success."

Zhao was an atheist and a former Communist Party official when he wrote the paper. He later converted to Christianity after reading the Bible. His essay is one of the most widely read articles on economic reform.

"I meet people in the upper echelons of government and I tell them that China will prosper and be a blessing to the world if it embraces the message of the cross," Zhao said.

Building A Harmonious Society

And there's evidence that the government is taking a closer look at how Christianity and other religions can create what party officials call a more "harmonious society."

"So for example, the government knows that Christianity is not a threat to China,"said Yu Xinli, who pastor's one of the largest government-sanctioned churches in Beijing. "They know that Christians are law-abiding citizens and can be good role models for society."

It's a far cry from the days of the Cultural Revolution when churches, temples and mosques were burned down by authorities. Christians and pastors were routinely arrested and labeled counter revolutionaries.

"The Chinese government had one goal in mind then: destroy all religions," Zhao said.

Religious Revival

Decades later, Chinese government data and international surveys report millions of Chinese people are flocking to religions like Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism and Islam.

"We found that as many as one in two of the Chinese people consider religion important in their lives," said Brian Grim, who is documenting the rise of spirituality in China.

And the religious appeal stretches across all segments of society, including members of the political class.

"We found that among various occupational groups surveyed in China, who expressed an interest in learning more about religion through media, the Communist Party and government employees expressed the greatest interest," Grim said.

Years of chasing prosperity and profitability have left many Chinese people here searching for more.

"People's focus is starting to change and they are looking for the intangible things to satisfy their own, for the requirement of their soul, after they satisfy the requirement of their body," said Benny Yang, who writes frequently about Christianity in China.

Christianity Explodes

Today, freedom of religion is guaranteed under China's constitution which allows millions of Chinese believers to worship at state-approved churches, mosques and temples.

But it's Christianity that's experiencing the most dramatic growth, especially in the unregistered, so-called underground churches.

Unofficial figures put the number of Chinese Christians at around 130,000,000 people.

"There seems to be a government recognition that Christianity is growing and they are not taking steps to try and stamp it out," Grim said.

Perhaps. But let's be clear: the government still maintains a tight grip on religion.

Voice of the Martyrs' Todd Nettleton monitors religious abuses in China. He says the old Communist tactics of torture, arrests, imprisonment and beatings are still practiced, especially against Christians who are not registered with the government.

City On A Hill

Still, he's encouraged by the government attempts to understand people of faith.

"Is it a sign that all is good and wonderful with the Chinese church? No. The issue is still control but it is good that at least the Communist Party is recognizing that religion has a role to play in Chinese society, I think that is a positive development," Nettleton said.

And in another potential sign of government outreach, a London newspaper reports that Chinese officials recently held secret talks about the explosive growth of Christianity with leaders of the underground church.

A small step that Zhao and others hope will bring greater recognition for the positive role that Christians play in China.

"God wants us to be good examples so that China, like America, can one day be a city on a hill that shines the love of Christ for all to see. That's my prayer for China," Zhao said.
